Why We Waited Until August for Our End of Season Event
If you've been shopping with us for a while, you may have noticed something different this year.
We waited.
We waited until August to launch our End of Season Event—and, truthfully, it was a little bit of a gamble.
In retail, we're constantly being pushed toward what's next. Summer collections arrive while we're still wearing sweaters. Autumn appears when it's 95 degrees outside. Halloween collections arrive before we've finished our summer vacations, and somehow Christmas decorations begin appearing while there are still months left in the year.
And this year, we found ourselves asking a very simple question:
Why are we in such a rush? After all, our kids aren't rushing. So why are we?
What If We Just Lived the Season We're In?
At El Rincon de Maria, we've always believed in clothing that feels timeless.
Many of the European collections we carry aren't designed around a trend that disappears a few weeks later. A beautiful smocked dress, a classic knit set, a traditional bloomer outfit or a perfectly tailored little shirt can look just as beautiful today as it did last summer—and just as beautiful when a younger sibling wears it years from now.
And yet, somewhere along the way, we've been taught that if something isn't new, it somehow isn't worth choosing anymore.
New collection. New season. New drop. New holiday. Then markdown. Then move on.
We don't believe the clothes we choose for childhood should become disposable simply because the calendar tells us it's time for the next season.
Because beautiful things don't stop being beautiful when a new collection arrives.
So This Year, We Tried Something Different
Instead of rushing our Spring and Summer collections into sale while everyone was still very much living spring and summer, we let them have their moment.
Enjoying a sunday out with the interns at Homestead.
We wore the dresses. We went on vacation. We dressed our babies in those sweet little summer sets. We celebrated birthdays, baptisms, Sunday lunches and ordinary Tuesday afternoons.
We actually lived the season before announcing that it was over.
Especially for so many of our Rincon families living in Florida, Puerto Rico and other warm-weather places, August certainly doesn't mean summer clothes suddenly stop being useful. Quite the opposite.
So yes, we waited.
Does That Mean Autumn Isn't Coming?
Oh, it's coming. 🍂

If you've been following along, you've probably already seen little peeks of our Autumn collections arriving at the boutique.
We're unpacking them. Photographing them. Getting everything ready. But we're not asking you to mentally move into October just yet.
There will be plenty of time to talk about knits, tartans, beautiful autumn colors, and yes, eventually Christmas.
Just not today. Today, we're choosing to let summer be summer.

And Now, It's Time for Our End of Season Event
As August moves along and our new collections begin filling the website, now feels like the right moment to make a little room.
Our End of Season Event is our opportunity to say goodbye to some beautiful pieces from the season we've just lived and to give you the opportunity to find them at very special prices.
And because we believe these clothes don't suddenly lose their beauty because a calendar page turned, it's also one of our favorite times to shop ahead.
That dress you loved this summer? Consider the next size.
A classic outfit that would be perfect for next year's vacation? Put it away.
A timeless piece for a younger sibling? Even better.
Because a beautiful children's outfit doesn't expire at the end of a season.
Maybe We Could All Slow Down a Little
Running a children's boutique means we're always planning months ahead. Behind the scenes, we have to. But as a mother, I know childhood already moves far too quickly without us helping it along.
So maybe this little experiment was about more than deciding when to put a collection on sale.
Maybe it was our small way of saying:
We don't always have to rush toward what's next.
There will always be another collection.
Another season.
Another holiday.
But there is only one right now.
And we'd really like to enjoy it.
Our family enjoying a summer day watching World Cup '26 matches.
If this philosophy resonates with you, our End of Season Event runs from August 7–16.
These aren't clothes we suddenly think are "old."
They're simply making room for the next chapter of the season.
We hope you'll find a timeless piece you'll enjoy today, save for next year, or lovingly pass down to a younger sibling one day.

Thank you, as always, for supporting our small business, traditional European craftsmanship and the slower, more intentional childhood we're trying to preserve... one beautiful outfit at a time.
Because beautiful things don't lose their value because a season changes.
Neither do the memories made in them.
With love,
Ani
