Pretty in Pink: Rethinking Pink for Autumn

Pink has always had a place in children's wardrobes, but this autumn we're loving it a little differently.

Forget, for a moment, the bright bubblegum pinks we tend to associate with spring and summer. Autumn pink is softer, dustier and warmer — think blush, antique rose, mauve and muted pinks that almost become neutrals.

And this season's Ancar collection is such a beautiful example of it.

Pink, but make it autumn

What makes these shades feel so right for the season is what surrounds them.

Pair pink with cream, taupe, camel or chocolate brown and suddenly it takes on an entirely different personality. It's warm, sophisticated and incredibly easy to wear.

We love it layered. We love different shades of it together. And we especially love it when the pink isn't quite the color you were expecting.

Which brings us to the boys.

Is pink for boys?

We say yes. But we want to know what you think.

One of our favorite pieces from this Ancar family is actually the boys' striped shirt. The muted pink stripe paired with cream trousers feels traditional, classic and completely at home in an autumn wardrobe.

It also raises an interesting question: when did we decide certain colors belonged exclusively to boys or girls?

For us, it's much more about the piece itself — the cut, the fabric, the shade and how it's styled — than the color written on the label.

And a soft pink stripe on a little boy? We love it.

Pretty in pink... all of them

That's perhaps our favorite thing about this Ancar family.

There's pink for the tiniest baby, pink florals for little girls, deeper rose tones for the older ones and that beautiful stripe for the boys.

Not one single shade of pink, but an entire palette.

And maybe that's the best way to think about pink this autumn: not as a “girl color,” but simply as a really beautiful color.
